Dr. İbrahim Koç reviews each case as part of a free hair transplant consultation, assessing the possibilities for a hair transplant and preparing a consultation report. This report includes details such as the recommended method (either Sapphire FUE or DHI, depending on the patient’s needs and suitability), the suggested number of hair follicles required to cover the bald areas, as well as other important information and proposed treatment packages.
The entire consultation process is coordinated by the Flymedica representatives. Once the patient is approved for the procedure, organizational and formal steps follow — such as scheduling a suitable surgery date.
The stay in Istanbul lasts 4 days and includes 3 nights at the hotel. The flight to Istanbul takes approximately 3 hours. Upon arrival, the clinic’s driver picks up the patient from the airport and transfers them to the hotel. This time is reserved for hotel check-in, dinner, an evening walk, and rest.
One day is dedicated to exploring Istanbul independently, as the city is an exceptionally attractive travel destination. It is the largest city in Turkey and, due to its unique location spanning both the European and Asian sides, the only metropolis in the world situated on two continents.
The abundance of historical landmarks, the hospitality of its residents, and the vibrant colors of traditional Turkish bazaars invite visitors to discover the city, experience its rich culture, and taste the wonderfully aromatic Turkish cuisine. For this reason, many of our patients choose to extend their stay in Istanbul, spending more than one day sightseeing and relaxing before scheduling their procedure at the end of their trip.
On the following day of the stay, the consultation and blood tests take place, which sometimes coincide with the day of the procedure. The patient coordinator always informs the patient one day in advance about the exact schedule. Depending on the number of transplanted grafts, the procedure lasts between 5 and 8–9 hours.
The clinic visit begins with a meeting with the coordinator, who also serves as an interpreter. During this stage, the patient meets Dr. İbrahim Koç (or his deputy) in person for an individual consultation. At this point, the final treatment plan is determined — including the number of hair follicles to be transplanted, the design of the hairline, and the final confirmation of the chosen method.
Since the price of the procedure at our clinic does not depend on the number of transplanted grafts (up to 5,000 grafts in one session), Dr. İbrahim Koç can increase the number of grafts if necessary to ensure full coverage of bald areas. The consultation is conducted in the presence of a German-speaking interpreter.
This is currently one of the most advanced hair transplantation methods and has replaced the Micro-FUE technique. The use of sapphire blades allows for a more precise implantation of hair follicles, significantly reducing the recovery time after the procedure. The DHI method is currently the most advanced solution for androgenetic alopecia. It involves the simultaneous extraction and implantation of hair follicles using a special instrument called the “Choi Pen,” which resembles a pen in shape. The DHI technique is often used to increase hair density and is highly effective for hair thickening in both women and men. Thanks to this technique, hair can be implanted much more densely without the risk of damaging neighboring follicles.
After completing the medical questionnaire, the necessary blood tests and preparation for the procedure are carried out. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. İbrahim Koç has introduced a needle-free pre-anesthesia technique in his clinic, known as soft sedation. In the presence of an anesthesiologist, gentle sedation is administered to ensure that the injections of the local anesthetic are completely painless.
During local anesthesia, both the donor and recipient areas are injected multiple times with very fine needles. Therefore, a hair transplant in Turkey at our clinic is performed completely pain-free, which also helps to further reduce patient stress.
After the hair transplant, the patient receives the necessary information and medications and is then taken back to the hotel. The following day, the patient returns to the clinic for:

After the procedure, we recommend taking time to rest. The scabs that form in the recipient area heal within 10 to 15 days. If possible, we advise staying at home during this period. The first two weeks are crucial for the grafts to take root after the procedure. After that, your appearance will gradually begin to return to normal. Anyone between the ages of 18 and 65 can undergo a hair transplant. However, the final decision is made after a consultation. The patient must have a sufficient amount of healthy hair in the donor area. Additionally, the type of hair loss also determines eligibility for the procedure.
The common belief that hair follicles retain their original properties after transplantation (meaning that transplanted hairs never fall out) is not always accurate. Although grafts taken from the donor area — which is resistant to DHT — may seem secure, their behavior in the new location can be unpredictable.
Androgenetic alopecia is a complex and difficult-to-predict process that can also affect transplanted hairs. Based on our observations, in some cases, due to individual factors, transplanted hairs may gradually become thinner and, in rare situations, fall out. In such cases, an additional procedure or professional medical therapy (e.g., Finasteride and Minoxidil) may be required, which can increase the effectiveness and longevity of the transplant by up to 45%.
You should plan to stay in Istanbul for at least 3 nights and 4 days. The treatment plan (consultation) is scheduled with the doctor on the second day after your arrival, and the procedure usually takes place the day after the consultation. A hair transplant does not cure the underlying cause of androgenetic alopecia. The procedure neither changes your genes nor affects your hormonal balance.
